WSF2004 - II - Conferencia Hipatia - FSFIndia en Mumbai

Estamos en los preparativos finales de la converencia "Free Software - Freedom - Libertad" organizada por hipatia en el World Social Forum en la ciudad de Mumbai - India. Esta se desarrollara el dia 20 de enero. En ella participaran Richard Stallman (en la foto) presidente de la Free Software Foundation, G. Nagarjuna presidente de la Free Software Foundation - India, Warren Noronha also from the FSF India, Prof. Jitendra Shah de la Universidad de Bombay y de Indictrans.org, Vicente Ruiz, Nuria del Rio y Juan Carlos Gentile de Hipatia.

Todas las computadoras del Media Center funcionaron con Gnoware que es una version de Knoppix desarrollada por la fsf India y GnuBharti organizada por Jitendra Shah que es una distribucion en todas las lenguas de la India. En algunos dias pondremos informacion especifica de estas distribuciones

MUMBAI, India, Jan 24 (IPS) - Vicente Ruiz, a Spanish advocate of the use of free software, feigned displeasure as he sat down to help a journalist working at the World Social Forum (WSF) in January. ''Aghh, Windows!'' he quipped.



''Working with Windows is like being in prison,'' fellow technical expert and free software campaigner, Juan Carlos Gentile of the free software group Hipatia, told IPS.



They are but two of the many experts who set out to prove at the Jan. 16-21, 2004 WSF - and hopefully beyond - that just as the forum's slogan is 'Another World is Possible', another operating system - GNU/Linux - is also possible.
